Join us as Pig Iron collaborates with the acclaimed Daedalus Quartet and visionary visual designer Sebastienne Mundheim in a production that springs from Hungarian composer Bela Bartok's 3rd String Quartet. Inspired by Jay Kirk's Avoid the Day: A New Nonfiction in 2 Movements, this concert+performance+installation will feature a cohort of students from the Pig Iron School in a darkly comic performance charting Bartok's efforts to weave Hungarian folklore into his modernist compositions. Dan Rothenberg directs a programme of modern string music, replete with Transylvanian shadows, accompanied by a team of physical performers.
