On the tenth anniversary of Dan Hoffman's death, Daniel Akst C'78 remembers his former teacher in an essay for The Pennsylvania Gazette. Hoffman was the Felix Schelling Professor of English Emeritus at Penn and the twenty-second Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress. In the mid-1960s he taught the first creative writing workshop at Penn. He led the Creative Writing Program until his retirement, in 1993.
