Kristen Martin's writing has appeared in The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, The New Republic, NPR, Lapham’s Quarterly, The Believer, The Baffler, and elsewhere. Her debut narrative nonfiction book The Sun Won’t Come Out Tomorrow: The Dark History of American Orphanhood will be published by Bold Type Books in January 2025. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University, and was a Fulbright-Casten Family scholar at the Università degli Scienze Gastronomiche in Italy. Kristen lives in Philadelphia with her husband, their two fat tabby cats, Suzy Creamcheese and Dougie Jones, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Penny Loafer.
